Beginning again - 2021
It's been a long time since I've written. 6 months in old time, that feels about 3 years of anyone's recent lifetime.
I've got a new job. It's a completely new year. I'm taller. Ok, that last one is a lie. I'm definitely wider but not taller.
There will be no re-telling of 2020 experiences or new expressions for the same old party line here. We can all say that last year was awful; and we can collectively agree we all want this year to be better.
One big change for me personally was moving on from TUI Group.
It was a big decision; one that I stumbled over for a long time to be honest. I was conflicted between the fantastic people and team I'd developed at TUI, and the opportunities to try my hand outside of travel.
TUI itself will have a few challenges (like many travel organisations) over the next few years - there is customer demand but a lack of confidence (or in some cases border restrictions) reducing the likelihood of boom travel times for a few years to come. The other worry on the horizon is the financial aid received and requirements around repayment.
I've moved in a very different direction - the insurance sector.
Not something I've ever worked in previously; but since September I've found myself learning lots of new terminology and working remotely for Hastings Direct. Enjoying it so far, its a much more complex product than I had realised if the truth be told.
Looking forward to what 2021 will bring - a feeling of cautious optimism within the Truman household.
